A nationwide strike by immigrant workers in protest at President Donald Trump's efforts to crack down on immigration, has forced businesses across the US to shut down.
Grocery stores, restaurants and coffee shops in major U-S cities closed as immigrant workers stayed home in solidarity with a nationwide protest called A Day without Immigrants. School children from immigrant backgrounds also stayed home. Trump has sparked anger by enacting a series of anti-immigration directives banning entry from certain countries and suspending the arrival of refugees. He has also pledged to build a wall along the US-Mexico border.
