Merkel urges Turkish president to ensure freedom of expression

German Chancellor Angela Merkel has called on Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan to ensure full freedom of expression in the country. In her first visit to Turkey since July’s failed coup, Merkel also discussed a crucial referendum on constitutional changes in the country.
