Malaysia sending aid to flotilla to Myanmar

A Malaysian flotilla sails off to Myanmar in a bid to supply aid to Rohingya Muslims, amid an escalating wave of crackdown and violence against the minority group.

The vessel is set to deliver food and medicine to the Rohingya in Myanmar’s strife-torn Rakhine state. Malaysian Prime Minister, Najib Razak, has also attended the ceremony to see off the flotilla. The developments come as human rights groups and the United Nations have slammed Myanmar’s government over daily reports of torture and crime against Muslims. Myanmar’s army is accused of torturing the detainees, raping Rohingya women, burning houses, and forcing thousands of Muslims to flee the area.
