A planned visit to the UK by US President Donald Trump continues to stir
controversy among both British officials and ordinary people.UK authorities are trying to set up the state visit at a time when parliament is not sitting, so that Trump won’t be able to address lawmakers. The officials are reportedly doing so to avoid a formal rejection. John Bercow, the speaker of the lower House of Commons, had said earlier that he was strongly opposed to allowing the US president to address parliamentarians, citing his racist views. In the meantime, Britons have been signing an online petition expressing their opposition to Trump's official visit to their country. So far, more than one million eight-hundred fifty-thousand people have signed the petition.
