Lebanon's president warns Israel against possible attacks

Lebanese President Michel Aoun has issued a warning, saying that Lebanon will retaliate if Israel tries to violate his country’s sovereignty.

The warning is in reaction to the recent remarks made by Israel’s ambassador to the United Nations. Aoun said that the ambassador’s comments were a masked attempt to threaten the security and stability of Lebanon, but he didn’t clarify which remarks he was referring to. Earlier this week, the secretary-general of Lebanon’s Hezbollah resistance movement Sayyed Hassan Nasrallah warned against any Israeli attack, saying that Hezbollah’s rockets could target Israel's nuclear reactor located in the city of Dimona and its military infrastructure. The war of words between Israel and Lebanon comes amid concerns that US President Donald Trump might give Israel the green light to attack Lebanon.
