Israel approves 1,162 new settler units

Israel has approved the construction of more than one thousand new settler units in the occupied West Bank.

Israel’s so-called subsidiary committee of settlement affairs announced that eleven hundred and sixty two settler units will be built on land grabbed from Palestinians. The announcement comes weeks after the UN Security Council unanimously passed a resolution condemning Israel over its continued settlement activity. Meanwhile, Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas has threatened to suspend security cooperation with Israel if the regime further expands its settlements. The latest settlement construction approval comes after Israel’s Knesset legalized up to 4,000 new settler units on Palestinian land earlier this month. The Israeli settlements are illegal under international law.
