Iraqi army liberates key district west of Mosul


The Iraqi army and their allied forces are pressing ahead with the operation to liberate the western part of the Iraqi city of Mosul from Daesh terrorists.
In its latest advancements, the army managed to take control of the Hayy al-Jawsaq district west of the Daesh-held city. The Iraqi popular mobilization forces also liberated a number of villages around Mosul. They shut down an explosives-carrying drone in a nearby village. On Friday, the Iraqi troops took control of the al-Ghazlani military base, before moving towards the southwestern districts of Tal al-Rumman and al-Mamoun. They also began clearing Mosul’s international airport from bombs. The airport and a number of key districts on the outskirts of Mosul have all been liberated since the beginning of the offensive.
