India has demanded the US president condemn the fatal shooting of an Indian expatriate in a suspected hate crime in the state of Kansas.
Indian Information and Broadcasting Minister Venkaiah Naidu urged the US government to take a strong action in response to the shooting. He says such incidents constitute racial discrimination and are shameful. The attack also left another Indian expatriate injured. Indians at home and in the US have expressed shock at the shooting of the two young men. The attack was carried out by a drunk white man who allegedly screamed "Get out of my country!" while opening fire on his victims.
