HRW slams Trump for crusade against critics

Human Rights Watch slams the US for probable withdrawal from the UN Human Rights Council over what Washington says the council’s biased attitude toward Israel.

The director of the rights group Louis Charbonneau said the potential move by the US administration would be a misguided and short-sighted step. He said Washington’s considering quitting the UNHRC could significantly set back the UN efforts to protect human rights around the world. He declared the possible move by the US would be a green light for the abusers such as Saudi Arabia to use their membership to prevent the UN from exposure of abuses. His speech came only a day after media reported the Trump administration considers leaving the UN Human Rights Council, accusing the body of targeting Israel in an unfair manner.
