Germany warns US over damaging Europe, NATO

German Defense Minister Ursula von der Leyen has warned the new US administration against dismantling the unity of Europe and NATO.

Leyen said the US well knows that its tone has a direct impact on the cohesion of Europe and NATO. She called on Washington to cherish trans-atlantic ties, cautioning the White House over its favoritism toward Russia. The German foreign minister also urged U-S President Donald Trump over his travel ban, stressing that it should not target Muslims and Islam. Since taking the Oval Office on January 20, Trump’s controversial policies and his headlong rush to make hawkish decisions have been facing growing criticism both inside the US and abroad.
