U.S. President Donald Trump has stepped up Washington’s anti-Iran
rhetoric, saying the White House has formally put Tehran on notice over
its recent ballistic missile test. Trump wrote on his twitter account
that Iran should have been thankful for what he called the terrible deal
the U.S. made with it. That's a reference to the 2015 nuclear deal
reached between Iran and the P-five-plus-one group of countries. In
another tweet, Trump called the deal a life-line Washington granted to
Iran. Trump's threats came after U.S. National Security Advisor Michael
Flynn criticized Iran over its missile test. He said the White House is
officially putting Iran on notice. Iran maintains that the missile
launch fits into its conventional defense doctrine. A spokesman for the
EU foreign policy chief has also confirmed that Iran's ballistic missile
program is defensive in nature and does not violate the nuclear deal.
