Canada has warned the US against imposing border tariffs, saying it will respond appropriately to such a measure. The warning was issued by Canadian Foreign Minister Chrystia Freeland during a meeting with new US Secretary of State Rex Tillerson in Washington. Freeland said tariffs on exports would be mutually harmful. She added that the US will also be taxed if it imposes border tariffs. US president Donald Trump has said he plans to renegotiate the North American Free Trade Agreement (NAFTA) with Canada and Mexico.
